Bundestag für parlamentarische Mitwirkung im UN-System

Der Deutsche Bundestag hält "die Schaffung einer parlamentarischen Dimension im UN-System für erforderlich", so ein Beschluss vom 16. Juli. Als institutionelle Form komme eine parlamentarische Versammlung in Betracht. Anders als das Komitee für eine demokratische UNO geht der Beschluss davon aus, dass der Ausgangspunkt für eine solche Parlamentarische Versammlung nur die Inter-Parlamentarische Union sein könne.

German Parliament in favour of parliamentary involvement in the UN system

The German Parliament believes "it is necessary to create a parliamentary dimension of the United Nations system", as stated in a resolution of June 16. As institutional form a Parliamentary Assembly could be suitable. Contrary to the Committee for a Democratic UN the resolution assumes that the Inter-Parliamentary Union is the exclusive starting point for such a Parliamentary Assembly.

South Centre unterstützt stärkere Partizipation im UN-System

In einem anläßlich des Second South Summit in Doha vom 12. bis 16. Juni 2005 veröffentlichten Papier unterstützt das von derzeit 48 Ländern getragene South-Centre eine stärkere Einbindung der Bevölkerungen in die Vereinten Nationen: "Eine stärkere Partizipation in Verhandlungen und Entscheidungsfindung der Vereinten Nationen ist ein unverzichtbarer Teil des Prozesses zur Demokratisierung der UN Organisationen" (S. 38). Das Papier greift den Vorschlag zur Einrichtung einer Parlamentarischen Versammlung bei den Vereinten Nationen auf.

South Centre supports stronger Participation in the UN-System

In a paper published on the occassion of the Second South Summit in Doha from June 12 to 16, 2005, the South Centre, an intergovernmental think tank of 48 countries, supports a stronger inclusion of the people into the United Nations: "A more inclusive participation in UN deliberations and decision-making is an indispensable part of the process of democratization of the UN organizations" (p. 38). The paper picks up the proposal to establish a Parliamentary Assembly at the UN.

UNO: Europaparlament für Demokratisierung / Aufruf für Parlamentarische Versammlung

In einer Entschließung zur UN-Reform hat sich das Europaparlament am Donnerstag (9.6.) für die Einrichtung einer Parlamentarischen Versammlung bei der UNO ausgeprochen. Die Versammlung solle im UN-System eingebettet werden und "das demokratische Profil und den internen demokratischen Prozess" der UNO stärken. Ähnlich wie bei der Verwirklichung des Internationalen Strafgerichtshofes könnten die EU-Länder bei der Einrichtung eines UN-Parlaments eine führende Rolle übernehmen, so das Komitee für eine demokratische UNO. Der Vorstoß des Europäischen Parlaments sei ein wichtiger Schritt in diese Richtung.

United Nations: EU Lawmakers call for Democratization through a Parliamentary Assembly

In a resolution on UN reform the European Parliament (EP) called for the democratization of the world organization through a Parliamentary Assembly. The new assembly "would increase the democratic profile and internal democratic process" of the United Nations. The EU countries could resume a leading role to establish a UN parliament, similar to their leadership in the establishment of the International Criminal Court, said the Commitee for a Democratic UN. The EP resolution is an important step in this direction.

Evangelischer Kirchenbund der Schweiz für UN Parlament

In einem Positionspapier zur Reform der Vereinten Nationen unterstützt der Schweizerische Evangelische Kirchenbund (SEK) den Vorschlag, eine Parlamentarische Versammlung bei der UNO einzurichten. Das Positionspapier wurde vom Rat SEK im April 2005 beschlossen und Mitte Mai veröffentlicht. Der SEK repräsentiert etwa 2,4 Millionen Protestanten in der Schweiz.

Federation of Swiss Protestant Churches for UN Parliament

In a position paper on the reform of the United Nations the Federation of Swiss Protestant Churches supports the proposal to establish a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly. The position paper has been adopted by the Council in April 2005 and released mid-May. The federation represents about 2.4 million Swiss protestants.

Komitee begrüßt Resolution der Liberalen Internationale für UN-Parlament

Mit einer vom 53. Weltkongress der Liberalen Internationale (LI) in Sofia verabschiedeten Resolution hat sich der weltweite Zusammenschluss von über 50 liberal-demokratischen Parteien hinter den Vorschlag gestellt, eine Parlamentarische Versammlung bei den Vereinten Nationen einzurichten. Die Resolution des LI-Weltkongresses wurde vom "Komitee für eine demokratische UNO" (KDUN) als wichtige Unterstützung für den Reformvorschlag begrüßt.

Committee welcomes Resolution of Liberal International for UN Parliament

By adopting a resolution in Sofia, the 53rd Congress of the Liberal International (LI) has backed the proposal to establish a Parliamentary Assembly at the United Nations. The resolution of the LI Congress has been welcomed by the non-partisan "Committee for a Democratic UN" (KDUN) as important support for the reform proposal.
