Eminent activiste pur un Parlement des NU honoré par le "Prix Vision"

L’un des principaux activistes de la Campagne pour une Assemblée Parlementaire des NU (UNPA) a été honoré lundi à Berlin lors d’une réunion de la société civile en marge du Sommet du G8 à Heiligendamm, Allemagne. Andreas Bummel, l’un des lauréats du "Prix Vision", travaille pour un Parlement des NU depuis 1997. Il est Président du Comité pour une ONU Démocratiques et dirige le Secrétariat de la Campagne de l’UNPA. L’établissement d’une Assemblée Parlementaire des NU était l’un des dix projets présentés au "Sommet Vision" initié par le Réseau Economique Mondial, une association d’entrepreneurs progressistes et de dirigeants économiques. Parmi les autres dirigeants visionnaires honorés par le prix du Sommet figuraient Muhammad Yunus, fondateur de Grameen Bank, ou Franz Josef Radermacher, activiste d’un "Plan Marshall global". La conférence a été suivie par plus de700 participants.

Leading activist for UN Parliament honoured with "Vision Award"

One of the leading activists of the Campaign for a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly (UNPA) was honoured on Monday in Berlin at a civil society gathering at the fringe of the G8-Summit in Heiligendamm, Germany. Andreas Bummel, who was one of the recipients of the "Vision Award", has been working for a UN Parliament since 1997. He is chairman of the Committee for a Democratic UN and leads the UNPA-Campaign’s Secretariat. The establishment of a UN Parliamentary Assembly was one of the ten projects featured at the "Vision Summit" initiated by the Global Economic Network, an association of progressive entrepreneurs and economic leaders. Among the other visionary leaders honoured with the Summit’s award were Muhammad Yunus, the founder of Grameen Bank, or Franz Josef Radermacher, activist for a "Global Marshall Plan". The conference was attended by more than 700 participants.

Boutros-Ghali: La democratisation est nécessaire au niveau mondial

Dans un message adressé à la Campagne pour la création d’une Assemblée parlementaire aux Nations Unies, l’ancien secrétaire général Boutros Boutros-Ghali a précisé qu’il est nécessaire d’aménager une participation démocratique des citoyens au niveau mondial. M. Boutros-Ghali figure parmi les premiers signataires de l’invitation à appuyer le projet d’Assemblée parlementaire à l’ONU. Au cours des dernières semaines, cette proposition a été présentée au public en 10 pays sur 5 continents. Entre-temps, l’invitation à appuyer une Assemblée parlementaire au niveau mondial a déjà été honorée par 398 députés parlementaires, 57 organisations non gouvernementales et, en plus, quelque 620 personnes provenant de plus de 100 pays différents.

Boutros-Ghali: Democratization at global level needed

In a message addressed to the Campaign for a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly former UN Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali stressed the necessity to establish democratic participation of citizens at the global level. Boutros-Ghali is among the initial signatories of the Campaign’s appeal for a UN Parliamentary Assembly. In the past weeks the proposal was presented to the public in ten countries on five continents. Meanwhile the Campaign’s call for Parliamentary Assembly at the global level is endorsed by 398 Members of Parliament, 57 Non-Governmental Organizations and further 620 individuals from more than 100 countries.

Campagne UNPA lancée en Inde

L’Inde rejoint la force mondiale aujourd’hui de la campagne permanente pour l’établissement d’une Assemblée Parlementaire des Nations Unies (UNPA). Dr. V. Rangaraj, Sr. Vice Président, Rolta India Limited et l’ancien Président de la Chambre de Commerce Indo-Américaine a lancé la campagne historique en Inde lors d’un évènement tenu à SIES School, Matunga, Mumbai. L’ancien journaliste Dr. Vimla Patil (ancien Rédacteur de Femina) qui est l’une des premiers signataires de l’Appel de la Campagne pour l’UNPA a parlé des objectifs et des buts de cette initiative mondiale. Plus tôt, Vijayam Raghunathan, Coordinateur en Inde pour la Campagne, a parlé de l’UNPA et sa signification aujourd’hui. Des personnes de différents horizons ont assisté au lancement et exprimé leur solidarité en soutien de la proposition de l’UNPA.

UNPA Campaign launched in India

India joins the global force today of the ongoing campaign for the establishment of a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly (UNPA). Dr. V. Rangaraj, Sr. Vice President, Rolta India Limited and former Chairman of Indo-American Chamber of Commerce launched the historic campaign in India at an event held at SIES School, Matunga, Mumbai. Veteran journalist Dr. Vimla Patil (former Editor of Femina) who is one of first signatories to the Campaign’s UNPA Appeal spoke about the objectives and goals of this global initiative. Earlier, Vijayam Raghunathan, Coordinator in India for the Campaign, spoke about the UNPA and its significance today. People from different walks of life attended the launch and expressed their solidarity in support of the UNPA proposal.

Campagne présentée dans la capitale canadienne Ottawa

A la conférence d’Ottawa du 10 mai, la Campagne pour une Assemblée Parlementaire des NU a été présentée dans la “Charles Lynch Room“ de la Chambre des Communes. Intervenants de l’évènement, accueillis par le Mouvement Fédéraliste mondial -Canada (WFM-Canada), les députés Bernard Patry (Parti Libéral), Marlene Jennings (Parti Libéral), Alexa McDonough (Nouveau Parti Démocratique) et Johanne Deschamps (Bloc Québécois). Autres intervenants, Elizabeth May, leader du Parti Vert. L’évènement était présidé par Warren Allmand, Président de WFM-Canada.

Des politiciens suisses appuient l’appel pour une Assemblée Parlementaire des NU

Lors d’une conférence médias dans la capitale suisse, Bern, la Campagne pour une Assemblée Parlementaire des NU a été présentée par les parlementaires Remo Gysin et Joseph Lang ainsi qu’Andreas Bummel, représentant le Comité pour des NU Démocratiques, et Christoph Wiedmer avec la Society for Threatened Peoples International. Remo Gysin a souligné que l’offre UNPA a été soutenu par une majorité de parlementaires suisses. En 2005 une majorité de Swiss National Council a signé une lettre ouverte au Secrétaire-Général des NU Kofi Annan à cet égard. 48 députés individuels ont maintenant signé l’appel international de la Campagne. Le lancement de la Campagne a reçu une large couverture médias en Suisse.

Campaign presented in Canadian capital Ottawa

At a conference in Ottawa on 10 May the Campaign for a UN Parliamentary Assembly was presented in the “Charles Lynch Room“ of the House of Commons. Speakers at the event, hosted by the World Federalist Movement-Canada (WFM-Canada), were MPs Bernard Patry (Liberal Party), Marlene Jennings (Liberal Party), Alexa McDonough (New Democratic Party) and Johanne Deschamps (Bloc Quebecois). Further speaker was Elizabeth May, leader of the Green Party. The event was presided by Warren Allmand, President of WFM-Canada.

Swiss politicians back call for UN parliament

At a media conference in the Swiss capital, Bern, the Campaign for a UN Parliamentary Assembly was presented by parliamentarians Remo Gysin and Joseph Lang as well as Andreas Bummel, representing the Committee for a Democratic U.N., and Christoph Wiedmer with the Society for Threatened Peoples International. Remo Gysin stressed that the UNPA proposal has support by a majority of Swiss parliamentarians. In 2005 a majority of the Swiss National Council signed an open letter to then UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan in this regard. 48 individual MPs now have additionally signed the Campaign’s international appeal. The Campaign launch received broad media coverage in Switzerland.
